Facing Danger to Find Peace
"The Art of Peace functions everywhere on earth, in realms ranging from the vastness of space, right down to the tiniest plants and animals. The life force is all-pervasive and its strength boundless.
The Art of Peace allows us to perceive and tap into that tremendous reserve of universal energy."
For me, Aikido is a platform to share my life experiences, and my teaching is oriented towards a practical enquiry into the dynamics of relationship. In Aikido we practice in partnership in order to meet the reality of potentially dangerous and challenging situations.
This process helps us to understand the essence of how we respond to difficulties. With these insights we can begin to transform our stuck, unconscious, response patterns into meaningful, fluid, action.
Our responses to danger arise from the body and are, to a large degree, unconscious.
The body does not only manifest the wisdom of the whole living universe, it also contains arrested response patterns which have accumulated over the course of our lives, many of which lead back to past successful, but outmoded, survival and protection strategies. These accumulated response patterns often create the basis in which we meet relational difficulties.
